The Highly Successful Tips from Former Smokers Campaign is Back with New Stories and New Ad Creative
Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the U.S. More than eight million Americans are living with a smoking-related disease and every day thousands of young Americans become regular smokers, but nearly 70 percent of adults say they want to quit.
After the success of last year's ad campaign, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is unveiling the next installment of the "Tips from Former Smokers" campaign. Featuring real people living with the harsh consequences of smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, this next phase of ads feature additional health conditions, including COPD and diabetes; introduces three people who have had their health significantly harmed by tobacco smoke (even though they never smoked), and explores how smoking impacts population groups that were not included last year.
