Find Out How Bi-Fuel Trucks and Right Sized Vans Help Drive Down Operating Costs For Entrepreneurs
With the recession winding down, many small and mid-size businesses are looking to "right-size" their vehicles and improve mileage and efficiency. Two vehicles being unveiled at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show offer business owners the opportunity to do just that.
On the heels of winning the prestigious North American Truck of the Year award for the 2014 Silverado, Chevrolet has introduced a compressed natural gas (CNG), bi-fuel truck in the 2015 Silverado. CNG vehicles get nearly identical fuel economy to their petroleum based siblings, but CNG costs about 40% less. "Bi-fuel" means this Silverado can run on cheaper compressed natural gas, but also has the capability to seamlessly switch to regular gas. CNG is just one of many options in field of alternative fuels along with electric, diesel and ethanol. And while still a relatively small percentage of overall vehicles on the road, alternative fuel vehicles have grown nearly 400% in the last decade - an encouraging sign!
Another new vehicle coming out of the show that will also help business owners drive down vehicle operating costs is the all-new 2015 City Express which combines maneuverability and cargo-hauling flexibility with efficiency. This smaller, more efficient van offers businesses that don't need the volume of a full-size van a way to maximize their resources with a vehicle sized for their needs.
