From Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) to Forward Collision Warning (FCW) Learn The Top Ten Most Affordable Cars Equipped With Active Safety Technologies
Once upon a time cars didn't have airbags or anti-lock brakes or stability control. Then they became available but only as an upgrade in high-end luxury cars. Eventually, these important safety features made it into mainstream vehicles and are now required standard equipment in all cars sold in the US.
Fortunately, for American car buyers, history repeats. In recent years, the new "active safety technologies" such as backup cameras, Blind Spot Monitors (BSW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) were initially only available in high-end cars but increasingly, more mainstream cars like the Buick Verano and Encore, and the Chevy Malibu are available with these very same features. In fact, Automobile Magazine recently compiled a list of the top ten most affordable vehicles equipped with a basic suite of active safety technologies.
Joe DeMatio, Deputy Editor of Automobile Magazine and James Bell, Head of Consumer Affairs for General Motors talk about these new active safety technologies, how they work and the cars that made the top ten list.
